About Institute

Thebes Higher Institute of Engineering

was established in 1999 by Ministerial Decree No. 687 of the Ministry of Higher Education dated 1999 .

The institute includes the following departments:

  • Department of civil engineering
  • Department of architectural engineering
  • Department of communication and electronics engineering

The institute awards a bachelor's degree in one of the following majors:

  • Bachelor of Communication and Electronics Engineering.
  • Bachelor of Architectural Engineering
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering

Thebes Higher Institute for Engineering is a leading scientific institution that aims to prepare an outstanding graduate who is able to compete in the labor market locally and regionally through a healthy and creative educational and improvement of the scientific research.


The institute aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Raising the quality of educational services to comply with academic standards
  2. Developing student’s cultural and leadership.
  3. Increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market.

Rules and Regulations

-The study period at the institute is five years in order to obtain a bachelor's degree in Engineering according to the semester system.

Acceptance and transfer system

Based on the provisions contained in the Universities Organization Law, students must be enrolled in the institute obtain the following qualifications:

• High school science sport or the equivalent of Arab and foreign certificates.

• Industrial secondary system 3 years.

• Industrial secondary system 5 years.

• Diploma of industrial technical institutes.

-That the medical examination proves that he is free from contagious diseases and is fit for further studies.

-To be of good conduct and reputation.

-The student must study full time at the institute.

.Transferring students and transferring their registration
It is permissible to transfer students to the institute from university colleges or similar institutes within the republic in accordance with the controls decided by the Institute’s Board of Directors and in a manner that does not contradict the controls established in the law regulating private higher institutes. And in a manner that does 
not conflict with the institutes list issued by Resolution 1088 of the year 88 in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 1078 of the year 91.

It is permissible to transfer the student to a higher level than the first level in any of the university colleges or from an institute to a non-corresponding institute, provided that he has obtained the minimum total of grades reached by the admission to the institute to which the transfer is requested in the year he obtained the certificate or the current year, whichever is better for the student With the approval of the deans of the two institutes, in this case, the student’s enrollment in the first study levels at the institute.

It is also permissible to transfer the enrollment of dismissed students without disciplinary methods from the military colleges or the police college to count the authority for military life or those dismissed to exhaust the repetition times of the institute recruited in the first year for the student.

And that the application for admission was submitted in the academic year during which the student was dismissed, or in the following academic year at most, if his dismissal took place after the start of the study at the institute in the year preceding his submission of the enrollment application.

The applicant may be re-registered in the following cases:

1. The new student who completes his registration procedures for an acceptable excuse.

2. The student who withdrew his papers while he was enrolled in the institute and provided an excuse.

3. The student who did not apply to the Coordination Office in his secondary school year with an acceptable excuse. In all cases, the year of failure is considered the year in which the student elapses without enrolling himself in it.

The institute also accepts students who have exhausted their failing times in the following colleges and institutes according to the following rules:

1.He must be enrolled in the college or higher institute in the academic year preceding the year in which he joined the institute.

2. He must have a high school diploma or its equivalent on a total that qualifies him to join the institute in the year he obtained that certificate or in the year of his enrollment in the institute, whichever is better for the student.

3. The enrollment of these students in the first year shall be freshmen, and the papers of these students shall be submitted to the institute to be sent to the competent department at the ministry, and their admission shall be with the approval of the Institute’s Board of Directors.

Quality Assurance Unit

The Vision:

Monitoring and continuous improvement to ensure quality in the field of education and research activities through the application of academic reference standards of the National Authority of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Education in Egypt.

The Mission:
Implementing a system to develop mechanisms for evaluating and measuring the inputs and methods of applying the educational, research and administrative process at the institute as well as community service projects with the introduction of systems for
developing and modifying plans and means in order to evaluate performance to ensure the quality of the targeted outputs.

 The Objectives

1 - Building a system for evaluating and measuring the inputs and methods of implementing the educational, research and administrative process at the institute aimed at ensuring the achievement of its mission and strategic goals.

2 - Work to increase awareness and spread the culture of quality at all levels of the institute.

3- Providing technical support to all administrative and scientific departments and sections of the Institute in order to reach a level compatible with the standards and requirements of the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Accreditation and Education.

4- Enhancing the building of administrative and academic capacities in the field of planning, quality assurance and performance evaluation.

5 - Supporting the processes of continuous development and improvement of institutional and educational performance, scientific research and community service activities.


Types of scholarships:

First: In an attempt to expand the concept of excellence that is based on when distributing scholarships to students, it has been decided that the number of scholarships awarded will be distributed according to the following criteria: -

  • Academic excellence on the basis of high school grades.
  • Academic excellence on the basis of the student's semester average.
  • Social and environmental excellence based on social and environmental activities in which the student participated.
  • Artistic and literary excellence on the basis of artistic and literary activities in which the student excelled.
  • The student must pass the personal interview held by the institute’s specialized committees, which decide to offer a percentage of these scholarships to the most outstanding students in each of these areas separately.

Providing a percentage of these scholarships to students who combine more than one advantage in the various fields in search of an outstanding student who is balanced artistically, culturally, sports and scientifically together.

In order to obtain the free scholarships to study at the institute, it is conditional upon exposure to an integrated medical examination that proves that the student is free from any effects of addiction, as well as his abstention from the habit of smoking.

Second: Financial Aids
Scientific excellence.
  Championship at the Ministry level:
    1. The first takes a 15% fee reduction
    2. The second one takes a 10% fee discount
    3. The third takes a 5% fee reduction
  Artistic  Excellence: -
Winning one of the first three places nationwide takes a 15% fee reduction
  Sports excellence championship (international - regional - republic): -
    1. First place takes a 25% reduction in fees
    2. The second place takes a 20% reduction in fees
    3. The third place takes a 15% reduction in fees
Children of the police martyrs: -
Submission of papers proving this deserves a 25% reduction in fees
  Children of workers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: -
The papers proving this deserves a 20% reduction in the fees
  Sibling cases: - A statement from the students ’affairs, a copy of the birth certificate, and a request submitted to the committee to reduce the fees.
  Normal cases: - A social study is submitted and a request submitted to the committee to reduce fees

Student Activities

Student Activities
Student activities aim to achieve:
  • Development of spiritual and moral values and national awareness.
  • To express opinion and develop leadership ability.
  • Providing students with the opportunity to discover their talents, abilities and skills, and to work on refining and developing these talents.
  • Forming student families.
  • Organizing student sports, social, scouting, artistic and cultural activities.
  • Utilizing students ’energies in community service.
Structure of student unions:
  • Student unions are formed from the institute’s regular students who are enrolled in it, and foreign students have the right to practice the union’s activities without having the right to vote or nominate.
  • Student Union Committees:
The Student Union Council works through certain committees with specific goals as follows:
Families Committee:
- Encouraging the formation of families at the institute and supporting its activities.
- Coordination between the activities of different families in the institute.
Sports Activity Committee:
- Spreading sportsmanship among students and encouraging sports talents and working on their development.
-Organizing sports activities at the institute, including the formation of sports teams and the holding of matches, competitions, parties and sports festivals.
Cultural Activity Committee:
Organizing aspects of cultural activity that lead to introducing students to the characteristics of society and the needs of its development, and working on developing literary hobbies for students.
Artistic Activity Committee:
- Developing the students 'various artistic talents and upgrading them in line with their lofty goals and holding concerts and exhibitions that highlight the students' artistic activity.
- Encouraging and supporting students' artistic activities and hobbies.
-Ranger and General Services Committee:
-Organizing the aspects of the activities of the detection and guidance movement on the scientific basis in accordance with its principles.
- Implementing environmental programs approved by the institute in a way that contributes to the development of society, working on student participation in its implementation, and contributing to national public service projects that are required by the nation's needs.
Social Activities and Trips Committee:
- Work to develop social ties between teaching staff and workers and spread the spirit of cooperation and brotherhood among them by all appropriate means.
- Organizing social, cultural and promotional trips and camps that help students learn about the landmarks of the homeland
